GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
1. All foods should be cooked without salt.
2. Only prescribed amounts of cereals milk, milk products (curd) and non-veg foods should be taken.
3. Pulses & legumes ( Dhals of all varieties should be avoided) .
4. Foods high in Na & K listed below should be avoided.
5. All vegetables should be cooked by the leeching method explained below.
Peel vegetables & cut into small pieces. Boil in a large Quantity of water. Discard the water & cook in a large volume of fresh water. Drain off the excess water.
6. Spices and Condiments should be used in minimal quantities only.
7. Fruits rich in K have to be avoided. Low K Fruits may be taken once or twice a week if permitted by the Doctor or Dietician.
8. Intake of fluid should be restricted to quantity prescribed.
Foods high in Sodium
1. Salt, Sodabicarbonate & baking powder
2. Salted papads, pickles, biscuits, chips, Popcom, nuts.
3. Soft drinks & health drinks (eg). Complan, Horlicks, ets.
4. All canned & tinned foods containing preservatives.
5. Salted cheese and butter.
6. Aginomotto ( Monosodium glutamate)
7. Instant mixes, Soup cubes, dried fish, dried fruits.
8. Commercial salad dressings & sauces.
9. Meat & yeast extracts.
Food high in Potassium (K)
1. Instant coffee, cocoa, chocolates, nuts, jaggery & brown sugar.
Fruits low in Potassium (K)
1. Apple, guava, pineapple, Papaya & pears.
1800Kcal DM/Renal diet
No Sugar Fluid – 1000ml
No Dhal Protein – 40 g/day

7.00 A.M Milk 150 ml.
08:30 A.M. Idli – 3 / Idiappam – 3/ Rava Idli – 3/Rava Dosai – 3/Rava or Aval Uppuma or Uppuma – 1 ½ cups (75 gms)/Appam – 3/ Phulkas – 2+Mint / Onion / Tomato Chutney.
10.30 A.M. Aval or Rave Uppuma – ½ cup (Rice flakes) (From 25 g)
12.30 P.M. Rice – 2cups or Phulkas – 3 (100 gms) + curd – 100 ml, Vegetables – 2 varieties (as desired)
Lime Rasam – 50 ml / or any gravy using Tamarind (50 ml)
03.30 P.M. Milk – 150 ml / Marie Biscuits – 3
05.30 P.M Fruit – ½ or any sago preparation from 25 g sago.
07.30 P.M. Rice – 1 ½ cups (75 g raw wt.) or Phulkas – 2 + Rasam – 50 ml, Vegetable – as desired
Bedtime Milk – 100 ml
Oil allowance – 30 g (6 tsp / day)
Fluid thro diet – 600 ml
Water – 400 ml
Total allowance of milk & curd – 500 ml
1800 Kcal DM / Renal Diet
No Sugar Fluid – 100 ml
No Dhal Protein – 40 g/ day
Salt – ____ g /day
Type II – Non-veg
7.00 A.M Milk -100ml
08:30 A.M. Idli -3/Idiappam-3/Rava Idli-3/Rava Dosai – 3/Aval Uppuma or Puthi – 1 ½ cups ( 75 g raw wt.) Appam – 3/Phulkas-2 + Onion/Tomato./Mint Chutney.
10.30 A.M. Rice Flakes or sooji Uppuma ½ cup (From 25 g)
12.30 P.M. Rice – 2 Cups (100 g raw wt.) or Phulkas – 3 + Tomato Rasam- 50ml, Vegetables as desired, Curd – 100 ml, Egg – 1 or Paneer – 35 g or fish – 30 g or Meat – 35 g or Chicken – 25 g.
03.30 P.M. Milk – 100ml, Marie Biscuits – 3
05.30 P.M Fruit – 1 ½ or any sago preparation from 25 g sago.
07.30 P.M. Rice – 1 ½ cups or Phulkas – 3 + Rasam – 100 ml, Vegetables – as desired.
Bedtime Milk – 100 ml
Oil allowance – 30 g / day (6 tsp/day)
Total fluid thro diet – 600ml
Water – 400 ml
Total allowance of milk & curd – 400 ml

08:30 A.M. Idli – 3 / Idiappam – 3 / Rava Dosai – 3 /Rava or Aval Uppuma or Puttu – 1 ½ cups ( 75 g raw wt.) / Appam – 3/ Phulkas – 2 + Onion / Tomato / Mint Chutney.
10.30 A.M. Buttermilk or Veg Soup 100 ml.
12.30 P.M. Rice – 2 cups or Phulkas – 3 ( 100 g raw wt) + Curd – 100 ml, Vegetables – 2 varieties (as desired ), Rasam – 100 ml, Kara Kolumbu or More Kolambu or Dahi Kadhi – 100 ml Egg – 1 /Paneer – 35 g / Fish – 30 g / Meat – 35 g / Chicken – 25 g / curd – 200 ml.
03.30 P.M. Milk – 100 ml Marie Biscuits – 3
05.30 P.M Any sago preparation from 25 g sago or Fruit – 1 ½ ( Apple, guava or orange if allowed)
07.30 P.M. Rice – 1 ½ cups or Phulkas – 2 Rasam – 100 ml, Curd – 100 ml, Vegetable as desired
Bedtime Milk – 100 ml
Oil Allowance – 30 g/day ( 6 tsp / day)
Total Fluid Allowance – 1500 ml
Fluid thro diet – 900 to 1100 ml
Water – 600 – 400 ml
Total allowance of milk & curd – 500 ml
1700 Kcal DM / Renal Diet
No Sugar Fluid – 750 ml/day
No Dhal Protein – 20 g / day
Salt – ______g/ day
7.00 A.M Milk – 100ml
08:30 A.M. Idli – 2 /Rave Dosai – 2 / Rava Uppuma - 1cup ( 50 g raw wt) / Appam – 2 / Idiappam – 2 / Puttu or Rice flakes – 1 cup (50g raw wt) + Tomato /Onion / Mint chutney
10.30 A.M. Any Preparation from 25 g sago
12.30 P.M. Rice – 1 ½ cups (75 g raw wt) Rasam or any gravy using Tamarind – 100 ml, Vegetables – as desired
03.30 P.M. Milk – 100 ml, Marie Biscuits -3-4
05.30 P.M Any Preparation from 25 g sago
07.30 P.M. Rice – 1 cup or Phulkas – 2 + Curd – 50 ml, Vegetable, - as desired
